Jon Tattersall

Jon is no stranger to working with the best players in the world: he has worked with a British Open winnner, multiple tour players on the PGA Tour/European Tour/LPGA Tours, and with Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup players. Originally from north-west England, Jon Tattersall moved to the United States in 1988. He started off as an assistant pro at Pinhurst, and eventually moved to Atlanta where he started Fusion ATL in 2007, which is a 10,000ft training facility was designed to capture performance data and develop practice plans for very avid golfers. In addition to golf lessons, golfers can also take advantage of physical training services as well as strength performance training.

Jon’s coaching philosophy is to support the player in three ways:

1. Cultivate the student’s desire to get better;
2. give the student a pathway to improvement and
3. Be the student’s guide along the journey.

His credentials are very impressive: he has been listed as a Golf Magazine Top 100 Teacher 2004-2020; Golf Digest best in state list 2004-2020; and as the Georgia PGA Teacher of the year in 2014. He has recently relaunched his coaching website, and you can check it out here: tattersallgolf.com.

In a similar way where Jon very early saw the advantages of combining strength training with world-class golf instruction, he was also an early adopter of remote coaching methods for golf. “I coach a lot of players remotely”, Jon says. “I listen to what the players tell me about their performance but I need the data Anova Golf provides to truly understand their performance and where we can make performance gains”. This is a super important concept to realize as a player: what you think is happening on the golf course very rarely has a correlation to what is actually happening on the golf course, because it is extremely difficult to be truly objective when evaluating your own golf game. This is very similar to what players experience when they see their swing on film for the first time: what something feels like almost has no correlation to what it actually looks like. The key is to remove your emotions from the actual analysis, and be crystal clear about how you measure your progress; and this is where Anova Golf can help:”Coaching competitive golfers pushes me as a coach to constantly question theories and study results to see if the strategies I’m using are working. Incorporating Anova Golf into my programs at Tattersall Golf helps me prioritize drills and strategies for players.”

The remote coaching program, which is a available in a few different varieties to suit different kinds of players, enables you to view premium video content and lessons as well as giving you a private coaching space where you can upload videos so that Jon can analyze them for you.

You also get access to Anova so that you and Jon will be able to use the performance analytics from the golf course to find the areas of your golf game where the smallest amount of effort will lead to the biggest amount of improvement.

“I coach a lot of players remotely, to be effective I rely on Anova Golf.  I listen to what the players tell me about their performance but I need the data Anova Golf provides to truly understand their performance and where we can make performance gains.”

In addition to working with some of the world’s best players, Jon has also been featured on podcasts such as PGA Tour’s ‘On the Mark’ podcast (find the podcast here) and is a regular as a coach on the PGA Tour.

“Anova Golf’s helps me track practice and tournament rounds.  Anova’s breakdown of the player’s data allows me to build practice plans and develop strategies for competition.  Something I’ve always done but prior to Anova Golf I was relying on the golfer’s feedback to know how they were doing.”
